Meet Your Counselor
Hello Parents and Guardians,
My name is Jamison Horton and I would like to introduce myself to you as the School Counselor for grades K-5 at Polaris Tech. I was born and raised in the South Carolina Lowcountry. I have been volunteering, mentoring, and working in the educational field since 2017. I graduated from Thomas Heyward Academy and completed my Bachelor’s Degree at the College of Charleston. I will be completing my Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Liberty University in May of 2025. I feel very fortunate to be back in the Lowcountry working with students at Polaris Tech Charter School.
As the Elementary School Counselor, I will follow guidelines for developing a comprehensive school counseling program based on the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model. Our school counseling program focuses on providing services and interventions based on the needs of all learners. We will support learners in their academic, college & career, character education, and social-emotional development.
My services will include:
Teaching classroom lessons on academic achievement, college & career readiness, and social-emotional development.
Facilitating small group lessons based on identified needs (with parent/guardian permission).
Providing short-term individual counseling for students (with parent/guardian permission).
Supporting parents/guardians with referrals to community resources based on learners’ needs. Collaborating with various stakeholders for the success of your learner.
