Polaris Tech Charter School will hold a Community Open House Oct. 25 to showcase the new school and students in Ridgeland, SC.
The event was rescheduled to late October due to Hurricane Florence and school closings along the South Carolina coast.
The open house, also called the "launch event," will include tours of the facility and meeting the staff and selected students to learn about the school's different approach to teaching and learning. The school is located on Grays Highway across from the Ridgeland Airport.
"We are so proud of our students, our staff, our school and our community that we want to have a welcome and thank you open house," said retired four-star Air Force Gen. Lloyd "Fig" Newton. "Pushing this to late October will give our teachers and students more time to showcase their work."
Lowcountry students who will be in grades 6-11 next year are encouraged to apply to Polaris Tech Charter School in Ridgeland for the 2019-2020 school year with the possibility of being admitted this fall in grades 6-10.
Online applications will open Oct. 1 for all grade levels, and wait lists will be updated regularly - meaning some students may be offered a seat at the popular new state charter school this fall. The school serves about 280 students in grades 6-10 now and will expand to 11th grade for the next school year.
