Character Education Student of the Month

Rationale:

By creating a Student of the Month Program, Polaris Tech Charter School hopes to celebrate individual achievement that supports the social, emotional, and ethical development of students.

Criteria for Nomination:

Any school faculty member may nominate a student for Character Education Students of the Month based upon the character word of the month.
A written explanation must be submitted to the School Counselors as to why the student should be selected for the award.

Process:

1.    An email will be sent out to the faculty and administration asking them to nominate students to be considered for the Character Education Student of the Month award. Nominations will be submitted to the School Counselors by the 15th of each month.

2.    The School Counselors will coordinate a committee to select the Character Education Students of the Month.

3.    The committee will select one student per grade level from the nominees.

4.    The Character Education Students of the Month award nominees will be announced on the first Thursday of the following month. The students will receive a certificate and their group photo will be displayed on the character boards in both buildings.

5.    The Character Education Students of the Month award recipient will be celebrated during the following month after the announcement is made (ex: throughout the month of October, “September Character Education Student of the Month” will be celebrated).

6.    Students who are selected as the Character Education Student of the Month will not be able to earn the award again during the current school year.

7.    Only those who win the award will be recognized; other nominees will not be disclosed outside the nomination committee.
