We at Polaris Tech Charter School are filled with immense pride as we celebrate a monumental achievement by our esteemed chairman of the board of directors, Retired Air Force General Lloyd "Fig" Newton. A native of Jasper County and the visionary founder of Polaris Tech, Gen. Newton's contributions extend far beyond our school community.
On September 19, 2025, Gen. Newton was inducted into the prestigious National Aviation Hall of Fame, a testament to his extraordinary career and dedication to aviation. With a remarkable record of 269 combat missions in Vietnam, he has not only served our country with valor but has also inspired countless students and staff at Polaris Tech.
His leadership and commitment to education empower our students to reach for the skies—literally and figuratively. Gen. Newton’s achievements remind us of the limitless possibilities that await when we dare to dream big. We are proud to have him at the helm of our board, guiding our mission to foster innovation and excellence in education.
